Avril Lavigne rođena je 1985. godine u Njujorku. Trenutno je jedna od najmlađih slavnih ličnosti u Americi. Ova (može se reći) tinejdžerka svoju slavu je stekla sa nekoliko hitova, opčinivši svet svojom neiscrpnom energijom i talentom.

Njeni poznanici govore da je pevala "uvek i svuda" - na ulici, u crkvi, u kući... Jedino "ozbiljno" iskustvo u pevanju imala je u crkvenom horu. Sve pesme na albumu pisala je sama, kao i muziku za njih. Album je spremala od svoje 16. godine, a izdat je kada je imala 17 godina pod nazivom "Let Go".

Dve pesme sa ovog albuma postale su svetski hitovi u veoma kratkom roku. Najpre je to bila pesma "Anything But Ordinary", da bi hit "Complicated" njen prvi album učinio najvećim u 2002. godini. Album je prodat u preko četiri miliona primeraka, što je više nego odlično za jedan prvenac.

Kao što su i svi oko nje verovali, jedva je dočekala turneju po Americi. Ona i njen "Skater-punk Band of Rocker Boys", grupa sastavljena uglavnom od njenih najboljih drugova, bili su dočekivani i ispraćani burom aplauza u svim državama Amerike.
